A rare pair of Mogul 21k enameled, gold ” fragrant holder”, bangles- North India - circa 19th century. - The face of the matching bracelet is designed as a flower petal. It is set with a large spinel  with surrounding rosette diamonds On its side are faceted rubies. On the bottom of the large petal are emerald and rubies inlaid into the gold. An enameled compartment opens to reveal a niche for putting in various fragrances. The lower component is set with a large  Sri Lankan sapphire which is surrounded by rosette diamonds.  Below the sapphire element is a ” petal” with a oval green emerald. The body of the emerald is finely enameled and set on its side with rubies and diamonds( several stones missing.) The bracelet closes  by inserting the serpent-like tail into a gold element which is set with a faceted blue sapphire. The bracelet opens and is worn by swiveling the floral petal element to the side, giving ample room for the wearer.  some of the enamel is missing, some of the side stones have fallen out, One of the bracelets is a bit loose when opening.  Overall condition is good/ cut, soldered, engraved, enameled, and wrought.  weight: 131 grams inner dimension: 55mm   approx dimensions size of spinels: 10.5*9mm approx dimensions of sapphires: 8*7 mm  approx dimension of emeralds: 10.2* 6.7mm
