Krasimir Trendafilov – Botren (b. 1963) - Motherhood, 2012, 40х15х14 cm Illustrated in a monograph Krasimir Trendafilov was born in 1963 in Sofia. He graduated in 1989 in “Ceramics and Glass” at the National Academy of Arts, and in 1995 also in “Sculpture” with a master’s degree. He has held solo exhibitions in Sofia, including at the Union of Bulgarian Artists, Rayko Alexiev Gallery, the Bulgarian National Radio, as well as solo exhibitions in Paris, Berlin and Budapest. He has been awarded at the Seventh National Art Exhibition of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, Sofia, 1986; the National Art Exhibition in the town of Yambol, 1988; and at the Autumn Salon of the Union of Bulgarian Artists, Sofia, in 1993. His best-known works in Sofia are the sculpture “The March of Dreams” in front of the Bulgarian National Radio and the monumental sculpture “Az, Buki, Vedi” in front of the National Palace of Culture, created from 313 artillery shells. He is the author of award-sculptures: 1994 – “Footballer of the Year”; 1994 – “Banker of the Year”; 1998–2000 – International Ballet Competition, Varna; 1998–2005 – Annual Prize of the Salon of the Arts at the National Palace of Culture; 2003 – Award for “Outstanding contribution to art and culture St St Cyril and Methodius”.
