In memory of Mihail Zaimov, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of his original photographs will be transferred to the account of the “Mihail Zaimov” Foundation. Umbria is an Italian transport ship that sank in June 1940 at the beginning of the Second World War, not far from Port Sudan. To keep the cargo from falling into British hands, the captain decided to scuttle the ship after it had been stopped for inspection. The ship was carrying more than 360,000 bombs and a huge quantity of military materials, which are still in its holds today. Umbria is a popular destination for divers, often included in the northern diving route from Port Sudan (together with Cousteau’s reefs – Shaab Rumi). The ship lies at a relatively shallow depth (maximum around 20–25 metres), which makes it accessible for exploration.
