Antique c1850 Red and Green Applique Quilt - Antique c1850 Red and Green Applique Quilt Measuring 91 by 88 inches. It is comprised of 25 blocks, 16 by 16 inches, set straight, 5 by 5, with 13 appliqué blocks and alternating solid white squares. There is a 5 inch white border with red appliquéd dots, mimicking the motif around the floral and leaf appliqué. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. The hand quilting is very fine! There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white binding with narrow green piping, by hand. It is in good condition with a few small spots and minor wear to the Turkey red fabric. Quilt has a hand written paper note attached that it was made by Marianne Wells Coats. This quilt was generously donated to AQSG by Julie Silber of Julie Silber Quilts.
