Antique 1886 Touching Stars Quilt - South Dakota - Antique 1886 Touching Stars Quilt with Provenance from South Dakota. It measures 68x82”. Quilt is comprised of 21 on point 10.5 by 10.5 inch white squares. They are set 3 by 7, and staggered. The double pink print feathered stars are actually created in the 4.5” sashing and cornerstones. The triangles used are a small scale at .75 inches. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, creating a very narrow edge, and applied by hand. It is in good condition with just some toning and scattered small spots. They appear to me to be tidal marks from being washed and would most likely soak out if laundered properly. The quilt is densely hand quilted. Overall workmanship is showstopping. The quilt is from the collection of Annette Amann of St. Louis, Missouri. She documented her quilts and we are including the documentation and photos that accompanied the quilt. The quilt is now generously donated to AQSG by Connie Chunn.
