The now independent island group was in the 17th century a colony to the Kingdom of Portugal. Below left, a mileage indicator, on which putti play with astronomical instruments. Top right a cartouche with the latin and dutch title of the card. Next to the cartouche sea creatures. Published in Dapper's ”Naukeurige Beschrijvinge Der Afrikaensche Gewesten van Egypten, Barbaryen, Lybien, &.”, Amsterdam, by Jacob van Meurs, 1668. Excellent condition, very wide margins, good quality paper, clear print.
