Solta. - Very large and unusual original colored lithographic view of Cachoeira, a historic city in the state of Bahia, Brazil. The print is part of a series of lithographs by Johann Moritz Rugendas, a German painter and illustrator known for his works on the landscape and society of 19th-century Brazil. The work captures a panoramic view of the city, with its hills, the Paraguaçu River, and colonial architecture. Several inhabitans and ships adorn the view. Cachoeira was an important economic and cultural center during the Brazilian colonial period. The lithograph was published in 1835 as part of the series ”Voyage pittoresque dans le Brésil” (Picturesque Journey in Brazil). Very good condition.
