Olea, Alfonso de — TRACTATUS DE CESSIONE JURIUM ET ACTIONUM. LUGDUNI [Lyon]. Sumptibus Societatis. 1735. (x), 604, 132 pp. 39.0 × 24.0 cm. E. - Final edition of the most important treatise on the cession of rights and actions in canon and civil law of the early modern period. A classical work of seventeenth-century jurisprudence, first published in Madrid in 1652, which across its successive editions grew with the Additiones by the author himself (Madrid, 1682) and with the decisions of the Sacred Roman Rota, culminating in this last Lyon printing which incorporates them all in a single edition, including the Spicilegium by Carlo Antonio de Luca with the most recent resolutions. The treatise is divided into the fundamental subjects of the doctrine of cession: the manner and title of cession and action, who may cede and which actions and rights are cedible, the transfer of action without cession, coercive cession, the mutual obligations between cedent and cessionary, and the nullity and revocability of cession. D. Alfonso de Olea was professor of canon law and subsequently of civil law at the Academia Pinciana of Valladolid, advocate at the Royal Chancery of Valladolid, fiscal of the Chancery of Granada, senator, and councillor of the Royal Council of the Royal Patrimony — one of the most distinguished legal careers in the Spain of Philip IV and Charles II.
