Advertising Poster Grammophon Music Label Robert Steidl HMV His Masters Voice - Original antique advertising poster for the renowned German record label Grammophon promoting a vocal recording of the world-famous character piece Parade der Zinnsoldaten / Parade of the Tin Soldiers sung by celebrated Berlin cabaret artist and comedian Robert Steidl (1865-1927) - Design features Steidl in his signature stage persona, sporting a top hat and a mischievous grin above a line of marching tin soldiers. The bottom right corner features the iconic early trademark for Die Stimme seines Herrn / His Master's Voice, depicting the dog Nipper listening to a gramophone - created in 1899 by painter Francis Barraud (1856-1924) and adopted by The Gramophone Company. It became a major record label - part of EMI - and a prominent retail chain HMV founded in 1921. Poor condition, tears, creasing, folds, paper losses, minor staining.
