Advertising Poster Seasons Calendar National Savings Certificates - Original vintage poster All the Year Round - Buy Savings Certificates - Artwork by Sydney Thomas Charles Weeks (1878–1945) features twelve seasonal illustrations for each month depicting quintessential British scenes, including sledging in January, a tree lined stream in February, a windmill on a hill in March, people sheltering from the rain under an umbrella in April, bluebell picking in May, flowers blossoming in June, tending a field in July, seaside fun in August, harvesting crops in September, autumn leaves in October, a night time riverboat in November, and a festive Christmas tree for December. National Savings Certificates were introduced by the British government in 1916 to raise funds during WWI and remained a cornerstone of national thrift campaigns through the post-war era to combat inflation. These ”calendar” style posters were a popular sub-series used by the National Savings Committee to promote the idea that saving should be a consistent, monthly habit rather than a one-time event.
