Advertising Poster Le Grand Magic Circus From Moses To Mao - Original vintage advertising poster for the French theatre troupe Le Grand Magic Circus et ses animaux tristes in coproduction with Theatre National de Strasbourg for a production titled From Moses To Mao 5000 ans d'aventures et d'amour / 5000 years of adventures and love. The poster features a fun and colourful design with a ringmaster dressed in a yellow and red striped suit, top hat, and a large green bow tie, holding a playing card and a microphone, with dancers to the left of him, with smaller images of Napoleon depicted on a horse, Marianne symbolising the French Republic, set on a deep blue background, scattered with small white stars, reminiscent of a nighttime sky or a circus tent ceiling. The show, created by Jerome Savary, premiered in 1973 in France and was known for its cheeky, irreverent reviews that were emblematic of free theatre at the time.
