Advertising Poster Paper Making History Wiggins Teape George Hardie - Original vintage advertising poster issued by Wiggins Teape featuring a colourful, informative design by an English graphic designer George Hardie (b.1944), telling the paper-making history, written on multiple booklets, including descriptions and illustrations of people performing various steps of cutting, boiling, washing, beating, diluting, draining, drying, and trimming, and a short history from invention of papermaking in China, Arabs learning how to make paper seven centuries later, and reaching Europe in the 10th-11th century and England in 1495, with Fourdrinier brothers developing first machine to manufacture paper by a continuous process. Founded in 1761, Wiggins Teape was a historic British speciality paper manufacturer, renowned for producing high-quality paper products like Conqueror, as well as industrial papers, greaseproof, and tracing paper. It grew into a global manufacturer before merging to form Arjo Wiggins in 1990, with the brand later acquired by Antalis. Printed by The Curwen Press.
