A Merwin & Bray, Plants Patent, 3rd Model Army Front Loading Revolver - SN 6148 .42 cupfire cartridge. 4 1/2 inch blued octagonal rifled mirror-like barrel signed ”Plant´s Mfg. Co. New Haven, Ct.” on the barrel rib. Left side of barrel marked with Merwin & Bray New-York. Brass frame with a with remnants of the silver plate finish, integral rear sight machined into the top of the frame. Blued six-shot cylinder with patent dates. Two-piece rosewood grips. SN stamped on the inside of grip panels and on the butt. United States before 1870, overall length 26 cm. The barrel and cylinder shows about 40% original blue finishCondition 2
