A Percussion Rifle by Johann Schemetzler - Octagonal barrel with six grooves engraved with the signature “Joh. Schemetzler” and with front sight and adjustable rear sight, simple engraved decoration in the breech area and on the tang with a diopter. Remnants of the original bluing. Percussion lock with engraved decoration, German set trigger. Half stockmade of walnut, root wood sliding patch-box cover, engraved steel furniture. Cleaning cap and bullets with plugs in the patch-box. Wooden ramrod with metal tip. Austria, presumably Wiener Neustadt around 1840, length 104.5 cm. Johann Schemetzler was probably the son of Georg Schemetzler, who was active in Wiener Neustadt in the second half of the 18th century. Condition 2
