Extremly Rare Percussion Revolving Shotgun by Cesare Rosaglio - Round smooth barrel in cal. 17.5 mm with the flat top and bead front sight. Six shot cylinder with recessed grooves. Each chamber is numbered 0 - 5 with gold inlaid number. System with geometric and floral engavings is marked on both sides ”Nobile Cesare Rosalgio invento/Privilegiata Premiata in Venezia Anno 1829”. Cocking and simultaneously turning the cylinder is operated by wooden lever below a trigger guard. Nicely carved butt is made of walnut. Italy circa 1830, length 130 cm. The nobleman Cesare Rosaglio (1788-1857) the inventor of the revolver rifle. In 1826 in Italy, Caesar Rosaglio manufactured and patented a revolver with a lever mechanism for cocking the hammer and simultaneously turning the drum. In fact, in 1830 he manufactured a kind of rifle with a five-shot magazine, which later became six and finally twelve.
