Cased Royal Naval Pipeback Presentation Sword 1827 Pattern presented to Vice-Admiral Edoardo Tholosano - A pipeback slightly curved blade with quill point. Etched and engraved with crowned fouled anchor, Royal coat of arms and foliage. Cutler's details of F. Barnes & Co., 109 Fenchurch St., London to the forte. The bronze-gilt hilt is stamped with the maker's mark of F Delacour & Backes, a knight's helm with a sword behind it, surrounded by the letters 'FBD'. Solid gilt half basket with crowned fouled anchor, folding side guard, lions head pommel, the backstrap with lion’s mane. White shark skin grip with twisted wire. The black leather scabbard with three gilt-brass mounts and two suspension rings. Fine Naval bullion sword knot. In its original case, on the top of the cover is a silver plaque with engraved text. Sword was presented to vice-admiral and senator Edoardo Tholosano in the year 1859. Edoardo Giuseppe Maria Tholosano, Barone di Valgrisanche (1808 Fossano – 1887 Torino). Length of the sword 86 cm.
