A French Saber for Staff Officers of the First Empire (Sabre à la Marengo type) - Slightly-curved single edged blade with back point, fuller on each side and remnants of gilded etched decorations on the upper part. Pitted on both sides. Silver plated brass hilt with S-shaped quillons, animal head finials and lionhead pommel. Longets decorated with a Minerva's head. The upwardly curved end of the quillon is connected to the pommel cap by a large-link white brass chain. Scabbard covered with black leather, silver-plated brass fittings, long mouthpiece decorated with trophies in a cartouche. Two carrying rings. French, the begining of the 19th cntury, length 102 cm.
