Flintlock Hunting Rifle by Franz Reimer, Olomouc - Octagonal barrel, slightly tapered in the front third, 15.5 mm caliber, rifled with seven grooves, adjustable brass front sight and steel rear sight. Signed ”FRANTZ REIMER” above the breeches, a stamped brass lined maker’s mark in front of the tang and ornamental decoration inlaid in silver. The barrel is decorated along its entire length with a stamped design segmented by engraved bands. Flintlock lock plate is decorated with a figurative hunting motif and signed ”FRANTZ REIMER/OLMITZ”; the cock with engraved scrollwork. Frizzen spring is missing. French-style set trigger (defective). Carved walnut full stock with a patchbox, cheek piece and horn nose (cracks, defects, newly varnished). Richly openwork lock counterplate, brass furniture with engraved decoration. Wooden ramrod with a horn tip. Moravia, Olomouc, circa 1750, length 112 cm.
