Flintlock Shotgun by Josef Spirckenpichler - Blued, octagonal barrel, round after a cut baluster, with smooth bore in 16.5 mm caliber. Above the chamber, gold-lined marks reading “IO. SPIRCKENPICHLER” and a unicorn mark, as well as three stamped lilies. The breech plug tang is engraved ”2” at top so probably part of a pair. Smooth iron flintlock with a gold-lined maker’s mark. Carved walnut half-stock with a horn tip. Brass counterplate and fittings. Wooden ramrod. Lower Austria, Schwechat (southeast of Vienna), mid-18th century, length 128 cm.
