A Tosei Gusoku ”Modern Armour” and Vietnamese Matchlock Gun - This armor, in the yoko hagi okegawa dó style with a suji bachi kabuto, consists of a breastplate (cuirass) do with seven lamellas in wrought iron, shoulder guards sode, kote arm guards, suneate greaves and haidate cuissards. The silk braiding is made of pea-green odoshi ito in the sukage style. Kusazuri skirt (armor straps) are divided into six strands. The helmet features wakidate (lateral crests) made from the antlers of a sika deer. Japan, late Edo period (1603–1868), height 175 cm. With Vietnamese matchlock musket (súng hỏa mai) with smoothbore iron barrel of octagonal cross-section in cal. 13 mm, brass matchlock executed with typical Vietnamese designs. Wood full stock with nine silver bands holding the barrel. Butt with bone inserts. Vietnam, 19th century, total length 158 cm. Condition 2
