Ladies and gentlemen,

We are pleased to welcome you and cordially invite you to participate in the Classic Auction No. 8 of the Antiqon Marketplace, which will be held on November 25, 2023 at the Antiqon Art and Antiques Center at 52 Brivibas Street in Riga, Latvia.

In the auction catalog you will find globally significant works of Russian and European art of the 18th-20th centuries, silver items from the best jewelry workshops of Russia, art castings and cabinet sculptures, works of masters of painting, unique collectibles, as well as precious items from leading European houses.

Among the top lots of the upcoming auction is a grandiose, like life itself, colorful painting by Pavel Bryulov “Working Afternoon” from 1890, where the whole spectrum of peasant hard life of women is interwoven with a light impressionistic view of the world, where the artist romanticizes the atmosphere of harvesting - a true holiday and the meaning of life.

True lovers of beauty will not pass indifferently by the work of Alexey Bogolyubov “Astrakhan. Admiralty". It is a documentary and at the same time affectionate look of Russian realism at the peculiarities of domestic shipbuilding and the restless life of provincial towns, seen by the chief artist of the General Staff during a trip along the Volga.

A special place in the auction catalog is traditionally occupied by unique collectibles from suppliers of the Russian imperial court: a miniature gold box made in the form of a vessel for an etrog by F. Laurier, a graceful silver ladle in Russian Art Nouveau style from the 11th Moscow Artel, a gilded Russian silver 19th century champlevé cup. The collection also includes a silver gilded goblet from the 19th century from the Pavel Ovchinnikov company, a massive silver crystal bowl from the 14th Moscow Artel of jewelers made in the style of the Russian Fairy Tale “The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish", an original silver paper opener from the Faberge firm, as well as unique silverware from famous workshops that achieved special favor with Russian monarchs and influential nobles.

In the faience and porcelain collection it is worth paying attention to an elegant vase in the Neo-Russian style from the Kuznetsov factory in Dulevo from 1890, a porcelain bowl from the Kuznetsov factory with a scene of the calling of the hero Mikula Selyaninovich, a unique collector's a href='https://www.antiqon.com/en/antikoteka/viewItem/zavod-miklashevskogo-481/?page_from=1' target='_blank' class='yellow-link'>porcelain flowerpot from the Miklashevsky factory, made in Russia in the mid-19th century. Century, products of the Imperial Porcelain Factory, Popov and Gardner Manufactory.

Among the many beautiful European art objects, it is worth mentioning a unique porcelain chandelier from the Meissen Manufactory of 1790 from the residence of King Alfonso XIII in Biarritz.

An interesting section is the Furniture and Interiors Department, which presents items from leading furniture makers and manufactories in 19th century Russia and Europe. Among them is a mahogany table of amazingly fine style by François Linke with gilded bronze.
