SILVERED WINE DECANTER FRANCE, LATE 19TH – EARLY 20TH CENTURY - A rare wine decanter with a tilting pour mechanism, silver-plated, mounted on an expressive cast base with animalistic claw feet. The construction comprises a metal frame with a horizontal bottle holder and a screw mechanism that allows the vessel to tilt smoothly without shaking. The mechanism is operated via a side handle with a bone or bone-like grip. The decorative base is formed as six curved clawed legs, stylized in zoomorphic or Gothic forms. The central vertical support mimics a gnarled tree branch, introducing naturalistic and Neo-Gothic motifs. The detailed modeling of relief, musculature, and ornament highlights the piece’s belonging to the Belle Époque decorative aesthetic, where functionality merges harmoniously with artistic expression.
