Israeli pottery vase, made by Harsa beer sheva - A large and imposing cylindrical vase by ”Herse, ” above whose signature appears that of the artist M. Asraf. Little is known of this artist beyond the fact that she designed vessels in the spirit of her contemporaries at the factory, among them Nehemia Azaz. The vessel is coated in a blue glaze adorned with yellowish decorations strongly reminiscent of desert landscapes — the very desert in which the Herse factory was situated at the time, and which served as an inspiration to nearly all the artists who worked there during that period. The condition of the vessel is excellent, with the exception of a small chip at the base, which in our assessment originated during the firing process.
