The Russian text reads as follows: Reading is one of a Person's Duties. The Soviet government began the fight against the illiteracy of the population by introducing compulsory education in schools for children and special courses for adults and propaganda posters about the benefits of reading and literacy as the responsibility of the best communist on production.
