JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINTS KABUKI THEATER TRIPTYCH
A set of three original Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints depicting a Kabuki theater scene with fighting samurais. The artwork is made by Toyohara Kunichika, Japanese, 1835 to 1900. Toyohara Kunichika was a ukiyo-e Japanese woodblock print artist. Talented as a child, at about thirteen he became a student of leading print maker, Utagawa Kunisada. His deep appreciation and knowledge of kabuki drama led to his production primarily of yakusha-e, which are woodblock prints of kabuki actors and scenes from popular plays of the time. Collectible Japanese Woodblock Prints And Multiples.
Dimensions: Each Panel 14 1/4 x 9 1/2 in. All measurements are approximate.
