Wassily Vasilievich Kandinsky, 1866 to 1944, an ink on paper artwork depicting an emphatically geometric abstract composition, supposedly created with a ruler and compass, as a preparatory work for Delicate Tension dated between 1922 and 1923. Provenance: Munich, Haus der Kunst, Wassily Kandinsky exhibition, November 1976 to January 1977. Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as one of the pioneers of abstraction in western art. Born in Moscow, he spent his childhood in Odessa, where he graduated at Grekov Odessa Art school.
