WASSILY KANDINSKY RUSSIAN INK ON PAPER PAINTING
Wassily Vasilievich Kandinsky, 1866 to 1944, an ink on paper artwork depicting an emphatically geometric abstract composition, supposedly created with a ruler and compass, as a preparatory work for Delicate Tension dated between 1922 and 1923. Signed lower left. Complete with Munich Haus der Kunst 1976 exhibition booklets, a Suddeutsche Zeitung November 1976 article: Die Rückkehr Kandinskys. Zur Eröffnung der Retrospektive im Münchner Haus der Kunst translated as The return of Kandinsky. At the opening of the retrospective in Munich's Haus der Kunst. Provenance: Munich, Haus der Kunst, Wassily Kandinsky exhibition, November 1976 to January 1977. Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as one of the pioneers of abstraction in western art. Born in Moscow, he spent his childhood in Odessa, where he graduated at Grekov Odessa Art school.
