ANTIQUE 19TH C RUSSIAN ICON HODEGETRIA OF SMOLENSK
An antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox icon of Smolensk Mother of God. Four selected Saints are depicted on the borders. Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gold leaf, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Mother of God of Smolensk is a highly venerated Orthodox icon of Hodegetria iconography. The original icon dates back to the early 15th century. Russian Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.
