1967 BRONZE SCULPTURE THE THUMB CESAR BALDACCINI
Cesar Baldaccini, 1921 to 1998, a limited edition gilt bronze sculpture, Le Pouce, The Thumb, 1967. Signed with etching, Cesar, dated 67, and numbered 5 of 7, on the side. The sculpture is adorned with an engraved structured pattern. Marked, Fondeur Bocquel, on the bottom. Cesar Baldaccini was a noted French sculptor at the forefront of the Nouveau Realisme movement with his radical compressions, compacted automobiles, discarded metal, or rubbish, expansions, polyurethane foam sculptures, and fantastic representations of animals and insects.
