An antique Greek Orthodox hand painted icon of St. Andrew or Andre The Apostle. The mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board. Inscribed in ancient Greek, upper right. Circa: late 19th century to early 20th century. Andrew the Apostle, also called Saint Andrew, was an apostle of Jesus. According to the New Testament, he was a fisherman and one of the Twelve Apostles chosen by Jesus. Antique European Greek Christian Religious Items and Collectibles.
