RUSSIAN SILVER JASPER BOX WITH MINIATURE PORTRAIT
A Russian polished jasper trinket box with hinged lid. Footed piece, Neoclassical gilt silver overlay of griffins and winged muses. The lid is also garnished with diamonds, amethysts, and an oval enamel miniature painting after the portrait of Juliette Recamier by Francois Gerard. Signed Gerard on the right. Hallmark of 84 silver standard and makers mark are on the rim. The item comes in original box. Juliette Recamier, 1777 to 1849, was a French socialite whose salon drew people from the leading literary and political circles of early 19th-century Paris. Francois Gerard, 1770 to 1837, was a prominent French portrait painter. Collectible Decor, Mineral Stone Jewelry, Russian Silverware.
