Signed by the artist, Marc Tem, and dated 1919, lower right. Practiced by Plains Indians, being an art form that flourished primarily from the 1860s to the 1920s. Battle exploits were the most frequently represented themes as is seen here. This Native American Ledger Art is drawn on a printed page removed from a medical book, and it depicts a Warrior lying on his back on his horse, firing a pistol held in one hand firing to his rear, while holding a Rifle in his other hand to shot forwards.
