BELGIUM PAINTING CHARITY BY HENRI LEYS BROOKLYN MUSEUM - An oil painting on board titled Charity by Henri Leys, 1815 to 1869, a Belgian painter and printmaker. He was a leading representative of the historical or Romantic school in Belgian art and became a pioneer of the Realist movement in Belgium. This piece is signed at the lower left and lower right with his initial H signature. Affixed to the back with a label from the Brooklyn Museum indicating that this piece was given to them as part of the bequest of famed American art collector William H. Herriman in June of 1921.
