WILLIAM BLAKE ENGLISH ENGRAVED PLATE FROM 1791 BOOK
Engraving on paper by William Blake, 1757 to 1827, a prominent English poet, painter, and printmaker of the Romantic Age. The print is plate 41 from Vol. III of the Elements of Morality for the Use of Children by Christian Gotthilf Salzmann, a book published by J. Johnson in London, 1791. The illustration depicts gentlemen standing around the pawnbrokers table. Inscription below: How happy it is that there are rich men in the world. This lot is authenticated as an original print.
