Maqbool Fida Husain, 1915 to 2011, an Indian Modernist artist known for his expolrations of Indian culture and the history of the British Raj. The artwork depicts the elephant god Ganesha with a female consort. Titled Vinayaks Own Country, Kerala series. Undated. The piece comes with a certificate. Elephants appear in a number of Husains works which derived from his interest in the classical arts, namely sculpture and its depiction of the elephant god, Ganesha. Elephants have had a long association with India, as symbols of strength, nobility and grace.
