ANTIQUE SEASCAPE OIL PAINTING BY JAMES ASHTON - James Ashton, 1859 to 1935, an oil on board painting depicting a Seascape. Signed lower right. Housed in an old richly ornate gilt wood and gesso frame. NoteL James Ashton was an artist and arts educator in South Australia. A marine painter, he founded the Norwood Art School in Adelaide in 1855. On a return visit to Britain circa 1895 he studied under the Royal Academy marine artist Henry Moore. One of a kind artwork.
