JEAN JANSEM FRENCH WATERCOLOR PAINTING LA LAVANDIERE - Jean Jansem, French, 1920 to 2013, an ink and watercolor on paper drawing Lavandiere, depicting a figure of a woman, signed upper right, Jansem. The drawing is related to a market scene circa 1956. Provenance: Purchased from Brunk Auctions. Previously purchased from Zantman Art Galleries. Housed in a gilt wood frame with a linen trim. Bears a Zantman Art Galleries paper label on the back side, accompanied with a Sales Invoice. Note: Jean Jansen is a figure, landscape, marine and genre painter of European subjects. He was born in 1920 in Seuleuze, Asia Minor (Armenia) and spent his childhood in Salonika, Greece. He arrived in France at the age of 11 where he started painting. He took evening courses in the Montparnasse Quarter in Paris, and graduated from the School of Arts Decoratifs in 1938. He often visited the atelier of La Grande Chaumiere, and exhibited his first oil painting at the Salon des Independants in 1939. One of a kind artwork. Classic European Fine Art Collectibles.
