ANTIQUE RUSSIAN ETCHING BY SOLOMKO LIBRARY OF SINITSYN
Serge de Solomko or Sergey Solomko, Russian, 1867 to 1928, an antique etching on paper, Ex-libris for Maxim Ekimovich Sinitsyn. Signed in plate by the artist, lower left. Signed in plate by the engraver M. E. Rundaltsov, lower right. Framed. Note: Maxim Ekimovich Sinitsyn, having started work as a stove-maker, gradually became a major construction contractor, built a number of buildings in St. Petersburg and Moscow. He compiled one of the most remarkable libraries of the early 20th century. The library was kept in exemplary order, most of the books were in luxurious bindings by Meyer, Roh, and other best masters. Sinitsyn owned books of all the Russian classics in first editions.
