Mikhail Grachev was a photographer for such magazines as Our Achievements, Soviet Union, the newspapers Izvestia and Evening Moscow. He joined Izvestia in 1936 on the recommendation of Vladimir Lenins sister, Maria Ulyanova, and soon became the head of the newspapers darkroom.
