JOSEF SIMA CZECH FRENCH LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING - Josef Sima, Czech-French, 1891 to 1971, oil on canvas painting. The artwork depicts a forest pond with two female nude figures. Signed and dated 1954 in the lower right. Framed. Josef Sima graduated from the Academy of Arts in Prague where he was the student of Jan Preisler. Sima was involved in the Devetsil movement and in Umelecka beseda in Prague. He became a French citizen in 1926 and quickly became an important figure of the Parisian Surrealist circle.
