ORIGINAL JAPANESE WOODBLOCK PRINT BY IMAO KEINEN - Imao Keinen, Japanese, 1845 to 1924, antique original woodblock print on paper from the series Keinen Kacho Gafu, or Albums of Flowers and Birds of Keinen. The prints were first published in 1891 and are considered Keinens most important contribution to Japanese printmaking. Stamped by the artist lower left. A paper note with descriptive information and the date 1897 is attached to the back. Matted and framed. Imao Keinen was a Japanese painter and print designer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, part of the Shin Hanga new prints movement. In 1904 he was appointed as an Imperial Household Artist.
