CANADIAN LANDSCAPE OIL PAINTING SIGNED OTTO PLANDING - A Canadian oil on canvas painting depicting a forest landscape. Signed Otto Planding lower right. Inscribed on the back side. Otto Planding, 1887 to 1964, was born in Germany, he studied at the Munich Academy of Art. Emigrating from Germany to Canada in 1913, Otto Planding dedicated his entire life, until his passing in 1964, to his art as a painter. He maintained a frugal existence in Toronto, eschewing extravagance, and found inspiration for his work predominantly in the rural landscapes north of the city, particularly around Georgian Bay, a region popular with affluent summer residents.
