Undated. Framed. Karl Truppe studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna where he was awarded the Prix de Rome in 1914. During his military service he worked as a war artist and made portraits of some generals as well as Emperor Charles I of Austria. In 1938 he became Professor of Fine Arts at the Academy in Dresden.
