AFTER SH RAZA INDIAN ABSTRACT ACRYLIC PAINTING - In the style of Sayed Haider Raza, or S.H. Raza, Indian, 1922 to 2016, acrylic on canvas painting. The artwork depicts an abstract ornamental composition. Vertical rectangular format. Titled Prakriti. Signed and dated 1996 in the bottom middle and on the backside. Sayed Haider Raza was an Indian painter who lived and worked in France for most of his career. In 1947, he co-founded the revolutionary Bombay Progressive Artists Group along with K.H. Ara and F.N. Souza. Raza sought to turn away from the influences of European Realism, which dominated much of the academic art of India, and embrace Antar gyan, a uniquely Indian vision. Prakriti is a key concept in Hinduism, formulated by the Samkhya school, where it does not refer merely to matter or nature, but includes all cognitive, moral, psychological, emotional, sensorial and physical aspects of reality.
