Signed in the lower right. Dated 1956. Framed. Trained at the Hamilton Art School, Hortense Gordon spent her early career making ceramics and painting traditional landscapes. Later she returned to teach art at the Hamilton Technical and Art School and became the first known female artist to teach and paint Abstract Expressionism in Canada.
