RUSSIAN SILVER PHILANTHROPIC SOCIETY TOKEN - A Russian silver token of the Imperial Trusteeship Philanthropic Society. The token is made in the form of a crowned shield with the coat of arms of the Russian Empire in the center. On the reverse side is an engraved inscription indicating the name of the owner, V.A. Strekachev, and the date of presentation, November 17, 1895. The Imperial Philanthropic Society Trusteeship Token is a token that was used to collect donations for the education and placement of poor children in crafts. The society under which this token was issued existed since 1816 and subsequently was under the august patronage of Empress Alexandra Feodorovna Romanova.
