LTD SURREAL COLOR ETCHING AFTER JOAN MIRO SIGNED - After Joan Miro, Catalan Spanish, 1893 to 1983, a color etching on paper, Lair Air from the four element series, along with works by Water, Earth, Fire. Signed, Miro, lower right. Numbered in pencil, E. A. Epreuve d Artiste, or Artist Proof, lower left. Framed. The lithograph was released as part of the first issue of Verve magazine Vol. 1, No. 1 in December 1937. Miro was one of four artists who each chose one of the four elements as inspiration for their work for the publication. Joan Miro, a Catalan painter, sculptor, and ceramicist. Earning international acclaim, his work has been interpreted as Surrealism but with a personal style, sometimes also veering into Fauvism and Expressionism. He was notable for his interest in the unconscious or the subconscious mind, reflected in his re creation of the childlike. His difficult to classify works also had a manifestation of Catalan pride.
