ANTIQUE 18TH CEN RUSSIAN ICON OF CHRIST PANTOCRATOR - An antique Russian Orthodox icon depicting Christ Pantocrator The Lord Almighty, also known as Savior Jesus Christ, dating to the late 18th century. The icon is hand painted in traditional mixed media, using egg tempera over gesso and levkas on a wooden panel. Jesus Christ is depicted half length. His right hand is raised in a blessing gesture, and his left hand holds an orb a sphere with a cross, symbolizing His power over the world. The icon belongs to the Kholuy school, the village of Kholuy, Vladimir Governorate, executed in the so called Gorbunovka style. Icon Paintings, Religious Items, Christian Art, Collectibles.
