ATTRIBUTED TO LADO GUDIASHVILI GEORGIAN OIL PAINTING - An oil on canvas painting attributed to the renowned Georgian master Lado Gudiashvili, 1896 to 1980. The painting depicts three central female figures in traditional Caucasian dress, engaged in a graceful, rhythmic dance. Their elongated forms, almond-shaped eyes, and serene expressions are quintessential hallmarks of Gudiashvilis unique Georgian Modernism style. The foreground dancers are framed by a lively background featuring musicians and onlookers, including a figure playing a traditional drum and a seated piper. Signed and dated 1953, lower right. Gudiashvili was born into the family of a railroad employee. He studied in the Tbilisi school of sculpture and fine art, where he met the Armenian artist Alexander Bazhbeuk-Melikyan, and later in Ronsons private academy in Paris. For a while, Gudiashvili belonged to a group of Georgian poets called The Blue Horns, who were trying to connect organically the Georgian national flavour with the creative structure of French symbolism. In Paris, he was a constant customer of the famous La Ruche, a colony of painters where he met Ignacio Zuloaga, Amedeo Modigliani, Natalia Goncharova, and Mikhail Larionov.
