Mixed media painting: egg tempera, gesso, and levkas on a wood board in a Kiot frame. The background of the icon is gold, radiating out from behind the figures. The wooden frame is very decorative, adorned with gilt carved floral designs. Mother of God of Kazan icon is known as the Holy Protectress of Russia.
