SIGNED SH RAZA INDIAN ABSTRACT PAINTING WITH COA - An acrylic on canvas painting, signed Sayed Haider Raza, or S.H. Raza, Indian, 1922 to 2016. The artwork depicts an abstract ornamental composition. Signed and dated 1999 in the bottom right. Additionally inscribed on the backside, Prakriti Bindu. Unframed. The artwork comes with a Certificate of Authentication. Sayed Haider Raza was an Indian painter who lived and worked in France for most of his career. In 1947, he co-founded the revolutionary Bombay Progressive Artists Group along with K.H. Ara and F.N. Souza. Raza sought to turn away from the influences of European Realism, which dominated much of the academic art of India, and embrace Antar gyan, a uniquely Indian vision. His abstractions were based on the concept of Bindu, a point or the source of energy, inspired by the Indian culture and religions. Surya is the Sun and the solar deity in Hinduism.
